Schmidt Happens

Thanks for acting on your curiosity, aka being here, now.

Fancy some flash fiction, fresh music or plain speech poetry? How about adult fiction or fiction for youth, including children? Corporate entertainment through story and song?

My main avenues of action, these days, are singer-songwriter, story-teller, MC, comedian, entertainment consultant, publicist, promoter, writer, poet, dramatist, facilitator. Or 'complete fool', depending on who you ask.

Feel free to walk through my website - hopping, skipping and jumping are expressly allowed. May the top menu be your guiding light.

I am privileged to grow songs & books of poetry, fiction (for adults & children) towards publication and gigs. As a thoroughbred clown without a circus, I persistently pursue a variety of interests.

Oh, what a night it was!

A warm winter’s evening. Gallery on Leviseur filled up with guests, welcome drinks and the vibrations of expectation. Muzic2create’s Petro and John created a soothing jazziness in the background until Corneli van den Berg from Audeamus Studios eloquently opened proceedings. Maritsa Barlow rendered a vote of gratitude on behalf of herself and fellow artists Hester Hattingh, Hanlie Kotze and Mariaan Kotze (all images of artwork copyright of the artists, by the way). Muzic2create started up again, with guests buzzily admiring the eclectic mix of art on display … completing the Nests In The Clouds launch at Gallery on Leviseur.

A full house …

… at 59 Plenty meant Edward, Neil and the rest of the restaurant team ran a few marathons. The kitchen’s dinner-ready-bell almost rang like an up-tempo cellphone ring tone. Muzic2create finished their first set of piano and bass creaminess. Something completely different, Seleke AM, part of SeWeZe Live Music, took to the stage, crooning his Afro Soul sounds – echoing the diversity of the visual art on display.

Chef Patso’s delectable Slow-cooked Winter Beef Stew …

… sold out in a flash, rivers of Merlot flowing freely to accompany its spicy heartiness. The rest of 59 Plenty’s diverse menu kept nourishing the bubbling crowd until closing time. After Seleke, Werner FM, part 2 of SeWeZe (minus voice, thank you, throat infection!) and John BB Smit embarked on a guitar and bass battle / jamming session around the music of Werner FM. ZeBroz75, comprising Seleke and Werner, added djembe and maracas to their music, before Muzic2create completed the musical offering for what was indeed a memorable evening.
